Living in London: My favourite places in the city I call home!

Writer's picture: Aimee FosterAimee Foster

Hi guys!

I hope you have had an amazing summer and have settled back into school or uni. I have had the best summer and been so busy that I will admit I have seriously slacked on the content but I am finally back into a normal, human-like routine so there is plenty coming your way.

For now I hope you enjoy this post all about my favourite places in London! I feel soooo super lucky to live here and love telling everyone about the places I visit whilst I am here.

1. Camden.

Of course, Camden is at the top of the list, everything about it makes me love it! Whilst I completely understand that the hustle and bustle can be a bit too much, Camden has so much to offer you really do have to push past it. The market is of course the centre point for the area and is one of the best ways to spend a warm day. From beautiful antique jewellery to quirky gift ideas, you can kill hours wandering through the maze of stalls and shops and you can’t forget to enjoy the beer garden and cocktails at the Dingwall building or some street food from the market itself! The long line of bars and food places paired with the beautiful canal walk is definitely why Camden is on this list.

2. Shepard’s Bush.

This one I love mostly for shopping. I’ve been here a couple of times for different gigs and the o2 Empire is easily one of the prettiest venues I have seen but the reality of why I love Shepard’s Bush is Westfields Shopping Centre. It has everything you could want for when payday comes around. My top shopping recommendations are definitely Pull&Bear or Bershka and you cannot miss an opportunity to shop in the Primark here. It’s incredible! Of course if you’re spending the day here there is opportunity for a recharge with plenty of food and drink places including the typical Nandos and Pizza Express. However, I can’t recommend enough trying out Byron Burger or Tapas Revolution for food before heading to All Star Lanes for cocktails and maybe even a game of bowling!

3. Regents Park.

Regents Park and Baker Street are probably my favourite places to walk around after the tube journey into central London. After using the tube and experiencing the rush of London life, it is the best thing to spend time wandering aimlessly around Regents Park. I love how peaceful it is and of course how beautiful the scenery is. Considering it is zone 1, the park feels far from a busy city. It is central to so many cool spots and means you get a lovely park walk before returning to the rush. I love walking from Baker Street, past the Sherlock Holmes museum to the park before carrying on to Camden or Russell Square.

4. St Pancras.

Since starting my incredible job in this area, I have discovered a whole new place to love. I hadn’t realised how much work had gone into building up this area and how fun a place it really is but outside of Kings Cross and St Pancras stations there is plenty to do! The Lighterman is right in Granary Square and offers incredible food and drinks with a cute little terrace area overlooking the canal. If you venture further behind the square there are so many restaurants and bars including the Little Creatures Brewery which has a really edgy vibe to it and is perfect for group drinks! There is so much here to discover and I really can’t wait to explore even more of the area now I know it exists!

5. Tate Modern.

I won’t kid you that I am some intelligent art fanatic, but it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a day at a gallery. I explored the Tate Modern when the weather was cold and rubbish and can definitely say it is my top rainy-day recommendation for London! I like to be a child and walk around laughing at the more amusing pieces of art but some of the exhibitions are for real amazing. Once paired with a good coffee and some amazing views of London, the gallery gives you the perfect cosy, rainy day. Also, as a tip for anyone needing a change of scenery to study or work in the gallery has a couple of cafes that have lovely atmospheres for that kind of thing!

Another long one for you again guys (sorry not sorry) but I hope you enjoyed reading about my favourite places and as always if you want any recommendations, tips or have any questions you can find me on Instagram or leave comments right here!

Thanks everyone and speak soon,

Aimee with a Double E.
